Monthly Recap: August

September 1, 2015 by Sana

August was really busy and then not so much busy?

LIST OF NEWSWORTHY

I seriously suck at taking photos of anything that aren’t books.
Lakeside reading // Obsessed with paint blocks // All I want to say is BADLANDS was well worth the wait
(Also, notice the fade to white in each of the photos, heh.)

Slowing Down
Well, there were visitors and they finally left so that’s gives me less to do for which I’m definitely glad. However, it was a weird month because I had to choose what I wanted to do with my free time and sometimes I ended up doing pretty much nothing. It’s a hard life, I know.

#RRSciFiMonth
Yes, it’s happening this year and I signed up so fast. Very excited especially because I’m currently on a sci-fi high so I’m hoping to come up with lots of interesting posts for November and get out of this blogging slump.

TV WATCH

I tried to watch…things.
I love this show so much // Daria
Suits – Suits is getting better for sure but, I could definitely do without having to look at Daniel Hardman, srsly. Also, I can’t believe the last episode was the summer finale. This show is crazy!
Daria – I’ve been making progress extremely slowly in that I only watched a few episodes. It’s just that I love it so much and don’t want it to end. This is me when there are forty-seven episodes left to watch. Go figure.
Heroes – I watched eight episodes and I honestly couldn’t remember if I had already watched them years ago. Heroes is the first ever show I started watching right around the time it came out, but when it just got more and more meh, I just got tired and abandoned it somewhere during season three. Now that Heroes: Reborn is happening soon, I want to finish watching it.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – I finished season one. Safe to say I’m still fuming over Ward and he’s officially number one on my character hatelist.
The X-Files – And I managed to watch one episode. Err.
Daredevil – I watched the pilot and it’s good!

MOVIE WATCH

Gipsy Danger is my fave // Pacific Rim

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (8/10) -The first movie is my favorite because everything is hilarious and awesome (except Kiera Knightley as Elizabeth and Orlando Bloom as Turner, of course).
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (7/10) -It was great but the tentacles of Davy Jones kinda creeped me out a bit.
Pacific Rim (10/10) – This movie is my favorite in the world (rewatch).
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (7/10) – I really liked it and the setting was pretty amazing!
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (6/10) – My least favorite movie out of the four because just urgh, Cruz and the mermaid plot and the wounded puppy look on Sam Claflin.

LIST OF READS

All things considered, I’m just happy I got to finish the books I did this month.

Monthly Recap: July

August 1, 2015 by Sana

Is it bad that all I remember about July is crying over Patrick Ness’s Chaos Walking and social anxiety? I hope not. Why do summers gotta be the busiest, though?

Monthly Recap: June

July 2, 2015 by Sana

Summer laziness and yeah.

LIST OF NEWSWORTHY

Lazy does not make much newsworthy hmm.
A day about which I should finish writing my post // Home sweet home // Ramadan’s moon sighting // Best mail ever // BOOKS!

Homely-ness
At the beginning of the month, I finally came back home after spending almost 4 months in Lahore. It still feels so good to be back home and the weather has been marginally better which is a blessing in such times of global warming.

Fasting Hours
Ramadan began on June 18th which is definitely a weird feeling because every year it arrives earlier than before. Statistically, it takes about thirty years for a Ramadan to occur in the same month it did before. Like I was born on 2nd of Ramadan so in about five years Ramadan would be in March which is a bit disorienting. Anyway, can’t believe it’s almost half over which means that my days of staying up all night are also coming to a close, sads.

Rereading Going Strong
I think I need to write a post about just how amazing it is to reread books. Definitely need to do this on an annually basis.

TV WATCH

I binge-watched all the things. Or tried my best to.
My favorite sensates and that’s all // Sense8
Revenge is over and I could care less about how it all went down. Good riddance, honestly.
So yeah, it was emotional for a while on The Vampire Diaries and that’s pretty much it. I really do not want to continue and almost want to kick myself because why’s it so hard to let go of shitty TV shows for me? I mean, I did somehow stop watching Pretty Little Liars, thank goodness.
Orphan Black is back and I couldn’t be happier though I do need to catch up, oops.
Season three of Orange is the New Black is so amazing, you guys! I seriously love this show so much and I’m glad it wasn’t as over the top as it was last season. Also, very obsessed with Ruby Rose.
I binge-watched iZombie and it was fun and all but that finale! Urgh, why must CW ruin things by making them predictable and meh?
Oh, I also finally watched the pilot of Agent Carter and yes, I love it!
Currently more than halfway through Sense8 and hot, hot damn. Highly recommended!

MOVIE WATCH

:heart eyes: // Now You See Me

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I (8/10) – I cried. A lot.
Now You See Me (10/10) – Rewatched this with Lillian, Elaine and Crini and it was so fun! I love this movie a lot.
Thor (7/10) – Actually a rewatch with Crini which made me want to rewatch Avengers and Thor: The Dark World hmm.

LIST OF READS

My book hangover was the worst after reading Marchetta’s The Piper Son so couldn’t read all that much.

^.^

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness (reread)
Mad Max: Fury Road: Furiosa #1 by George Miller, Nico Lathouris, Mark Sexton
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (reread)

I posted my answers to Burn, Reread, Rewrite tag

I posted my review of Mad Max: Fury Road: Furiosa #1 by George Miller, Nico Lathouris, Mark Sexton

How was your June?

Monthly Recap: May

June 3, 2015 by Sana

Hottest month that I ever spent on earth. Let there be not a repeat of this. Ever.

LIST OF NEWSWORTHY

I was mostly free in May which is why I could read and watch as much as I did. Little joys.
Still not over More Than This and that Nutella naan // Mother’s Day coffee // 100 years of Coca Cola (those are actually bottles hanging) // THIS MOVIE

So Close to Home
I’ve been living in another state since mid-February and it’s finally time to go home in June. As it’ll be six weeks since her kidney transplant surgery, my mother will be able to travel. I cannot wait to be back home with my bed and my books and the best kind of summer weather.

When Books Matter So Much
Still crying over the fact that Maggie Stiefvater’s The Raven King is coming out in March 2016 and waiting for the moment of joy when I go from ‘why, cruel world’ to ‘releasing during the birthday month, yes.’

Also, just how beautiful and perfect Renée Ahdieh’s The Wrath and the Dawn is and why do I want to reread it so bad.

And oh, I relented and read Melina Marchetta’s Saving Francesca and The Piper’s Son and ever since I finished the latter, I haven’t read another page.

Comic Craze
I discovered that there’s a thing called an all-female A-Force when Cee tweeted this and OMFG, want. I read issue number one and it’s fucking awesome! Loki, Dazzler, and America Chavez are my favorites.

So now I want to read all the comics again so I’m going to be reading anything that I can get my hands on.

Also, I discovered this CBR reader. It’s very handy and minimal!

TV WATCH

Everyone, go watch Empire, okay?
My fav //Empire
Pretty much done with Arrow because what the hell was that season finale? Lame.
But oh, how I love The Flash and cried pretty much all the way through the season finale.
Finished watching season two of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and this show is my favorite comedy right now. Also, it isn’t supposed to make me feel shippy things so why do you, B99.
I think Fresh Off the Boat is my favorite episode of the season yet.
I watched Empire and whoa, man this show! The best parts are the music which is mostly amazing, Cookie Lyon, Jamal Lyon, Lola, and just the Lyons being way too dysfunctional and messy.

MOVIE WATCH

LOOK AT FURIOSA GO // Mad Mad: Fury Road

Big Hero 6 (8/10) – Adorable and hilarious. Why isn’t Baymax real yet.
Mad Max: Fury Road (10/10) – SO IN LOVE. What a perfection of a movie.

THIS MOVIE, GUYS. IMPRESSIVE AF. FURIOSAAAAAAAAAA #MADMAXFURYROAD

How was your May?

Monthly Recap: April

May 2, 2015 by Sana

April was a month where I got too busy and had no time to relax until the last five days of the month.

LIST OF NEWSWORTHY

2015 is flying by! What.
Bookstores are my favorite place to be // Summer means ice lollies // Hospital runs // Are your books squeaky clean? Heh

Life After Transplant
My mother had a successful kidney transplant in the middle of the month and everything else basically rolled around it. It was such a nerve-wracking experience but she’s doing so much better now. Thank you so much for all your positive thoughts, guys! They definitely helped. <3

Not Too Little, Not Too Late
I’ve been busy accomplishing something that I was supposed to a year and more back and it’s such a relief. I’m hoping to talk about in length in a blogpost soon.

#cleanbooks
Crini and I started a ridiculous tag on Instagram because we’ve had it with ridiculous tags so what’s one more? Also, we get to mess up the tag because there are people looking for books with no swear words which is unfathomable to me. Why would anyone want censorship like that? Ronan Lynch is not amused.

TV WATCH

All the TV shows I watch are on crack because what the cray-cray?!
Allison as Sarah is a thing to watch. // Orphan Black
Arrow and The Flash get the twin award for being the most crazy shows ever and I love them.
I’m so relieved that Revenge is ending because it’s time for it to be over. Also, I’m glad that it’s ending on such a crazy note because it fits.
Fresh Off the Boat is such a ridiculously hilarious show. All of you need to watch it.
Damn, I was digging the humanity-switched-off Steroline so much on The Vampire Diaries. They’re all I watch, really because I fast-forward all the Delena and other crap scenes because barf.
Orphan Black is back and I couldn’t be happier that it’s better than ever.

MOVIE WATCH

Hey, look at that. I managed to watch a movie.

Groot is my favorite, obviously // Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy (8/10) – Guys, I watched Guardians of the Galaxy and I am Groot.

APP WATCH

Has anyone tried Inbox by Google yet? I think it looks really sleek but I’ve yet to play around with it.

MediSafe is
MediSafe – Since my mother is on immunosuppressants as well as steroids, I decided to get this app so that she takes her medicine on time because otherwise there could be risk of rejection. So far, so good. I highyl recommend getting this app if you’re on medicines for life or even doing a week-long course.

LIST OF READS

Rereads are the best and half the reason why I read so little in April.

The Raven Cycle, slaying me since 2013.

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater (reread)
99 Days by Katie Cotugno
Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater (reread)

LIST OF BLOGPOSTS

I still want to blog but again, had no time. I’m hoping I’ll fully get back into it in May, though.

I posted my review of The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater.
I interviewed Becky Albertalli, the author of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, and it was awesome.
I posted my review of The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater.

LIST OF BOOK BUYS

I’m not buying many print books this year because there are so many good that have yet to release. My wallet is going to be so sorry.

I’m so excited to read this in May with Crini!

More Than This by Patrick Ness
Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson (thank you, Greenwillow Books)
Fans of the Impossible Life by Kate Scelsa (thank you, Balzer + Bray)
The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness (thank you, Harper)
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
