Monthly Recap: June

July 2, 2015 by Sana

Summer laziness and yeah.

LIST OF NEWSWORTHY

Lazy does not make much newsworthy hmm.
A day about which I should finish writing my post // Home sweet home // Ramadan’s moon sighting // Best mail ever // BOOKS!

Homely-ness
At the beginning of the month, I finally came back home after spending almost 4 months in Lahore. It still feels so good to be back home and the weather has been marginally better which is a blessing in such times of global warming.

Fasting Hours
Ramadan began on June 18th which is definitely a weird feeling because every year it arrives earlier than before. Statistically, it takes about thirty years for a Ramadan to occur in the same month it did before. Like I was born on 2nd of Ramadan so in about five years Ramadan would be in March which is a bit disorienting. Anyway, can’t believe it’s almost half over which means that my days of staying up all night are also coming to a close, sads.

Rereading Going Strong
I think I need to write a post about just how amazing it is to reread books. Definitely need to do this on an annually basis.

TV WATCH

I binge-watched all the things. Or tried my best to.
My favorite sensates and that’s all // Sense8
Revenge is over and I could care less about how it all went down. Good riddance, honestly.
So yeah, it was emotional for a while on The Vampire Diaries and that’s pretty much it. I really do not want to continue and almost want to kick myself because why’s it so hard to let go of shitty TV shows for me? I mean, I did somehow stop watching Pretty Little Liars, thank goodness.
Orphan Black is back and I couldn’t be happier though I do need to catch up, oops.
Season three of Orange is the New Black is so amazing, you guys! I seriously love this show so much and I’m glad it wasn’t as over the top as it was last season. Also, very obsessed with Ruby Rose.
I binge-watched iZombie and it was fun and all but that finale! Urgh, why must CW ruin things by making them predictable and meh?
Oh, I also finally watched the pilot of Agent Carter and yes, I love it!
Currently more than halfway through Sense8 and hot, hot damn. Highly recommended!

MOVIE WATCH

:heart eyes: // Now You See Me

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I (8/10) – I cried. A lot.
Now You See Me (10/10) – Rewatched this with Lillian, Elaine and Crini and it was so fun! I love this movie a lot.
Thor (7/10) – Actually a rewatch with Crini which made me want to rewatch Avengers and Thor: The Dark World hmm.

LIST OF READS

My book hangover was the worst after reading Marchetta’s The Piper Son so couldn’t read all that much.

^.^

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness (reread)
Mad Max: Fury Road: Furiosa #1 by George Miller, Nico Lathouris, Mark Sexton
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (reread)

LIST OF BLOGPOSTS

I don’t know when I’m getting out of this weird combination of slump, laziness and constantly uninspired blogging thing.

I posted a top ten Tuesday list of reasons to await the release of Sarah J. Maas’s Queen of Shadows
I posted my answers to Burn, Reread, Rewrite tag

I posted my review of Mad Max: Fury Road: Furiosa #1 by George Miller, Nico Lathouris, Mark Sexton
I posted my review of The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

LIST OF BOOK BUYS

I don’t think I’ve bought this many print books in a single month before.

Book buying at its peak

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness

YAY FOR BEING BACK HOME. I assume you rolled around in your own bed because home sweet home! ;D

Now You See is such a fun movie. I feel like rewatching it because I want to see all those magic tricks + Dave Franco.

HALSEYYYYYYYY <3 I really need to relisten to her.

    HALSEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY <3

I'm actually going to her first headlining London show in September and I'M SO EXCITED. I'm super happy to see her getting lots of love from everyone <3

I'm almost done with sense8 too and have to agree with your favorites! I love the show, but it doesn't really answer all my questions. My husband keeps watching random episodes with me and asking basic things like, "what is that guy up to", or "how does the secret organization work" and I'm as clueless as he is. Don't care, still fun!

I've heard so many good things about Sense8, I really want to start watching it soon! Oh man, I've watched a couple of episodes of iZombie and I loved them, it's disappointing to hear they ended the season predictably ๐Ÿ™

So many books! I read The Night Circus last year and it was certainly a unique read!

YES I LOVE ORPHAN BLACK. I didn't get to start Season 3 in time so I'll have to wait for the DVD to come out or something ๐Ÿ™ And girl, yes to THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO. It's been like 4 years since I last read them, and I am dying for a re-read!! I've also been hearing really good things about Halsey, so I'll have to try out her music.

Thanks for sharing, Sana! Happy July ๐Ÿ™‚

LOL I absolutely did! Nothing like their own bedroom for an introvert, seriously.

I highly recommend rewatching it because it's just so good!

Eeeep, yes! I'm just waiting for August here so that I've a whole album by Halsey to listen to. =D

    ZOMG, THAT'S AMAZING.

  8. Sana says

You're right about that! I was a bit confused at first, as well. I just really love the concept so I don't mind the slow reveal thing that they've going on.

    SO FUN, THOUGH.

    Yes, start Sense8!

Yeah, it just kind of went all meh during the finale. Still, excited about season 2.

Haha I never buy this many print books so close together so it's been a welcome feeling. Really looking forward to The Night Circus! Glad you enjoyed.

Oh, that's a bummer! I always prefer binge-watching Orphan Black, though.

Such an amazing series! I'm so glad to finally be reading all of it.

Yay, hope you like Halsey's music!

NOOOO WE DON'T TALK ABOUT THE FIVE KNIVES SONGS IN THAT PLAYLIST SANA WE DON'T TALK ABOUT THEM /AT ALL/ IT IS JULY 4TH AND I'M STILL REALLY REALLY REALLY UPSET ABOUT KAVINSKY RIP MY HEART. DJFLADJF.

    God, I'm a fucking mess.

Sooooooo I've been meaning to watch Sense8 but now that you've basically said "watch this fucking show" (and I've seen so many people talking about it AND I've seen so many gifs) I'm probably going to watch at least the first episode tonight. I just want to know what everyone else is talking about. XD Lol @ The Vampire Diaries. No thanks. I gave up. I just wasn't invested and did NOT care. Probably a good thing too now that Nina is gone, and she was the backbone of the show. Also, I don't particularly care to watch iZombie. Firstly, because CW shows are always disappointing (sigh, Supernatural, how I love and hate you), and secondly, I'm just not…interested? I don't really care for zombie shows (The Walking Dead sort of cured that).

We don't talk about Orphan Black. We kjdON'T KTALK ABOUT IT. I haven't finished season 3 (I think I have one episode left) but man oh man oh man. THIS SEASON, SANA. Get on that. I need to catch up with Orange Is the New Black, too. I've heard Ruby Rose is lakdjfladf. I've heard mixed things about the season though! Lots of "meh's" and also lots of "this season is amazing!" comments. So we'll see.

This comment was a mess. But yours was even more of a mess. So. There.

    4. THE HUNGER GAMES AKA ALL THE FEELS AKA GIVE ME THE NEXT
    5. All I hear about on Instagram is MALINA MARCHETTA so I think I need to read her books yes? (my library doesn't have them on their catalogue which means I don't know how i'm going to read them though)
    6. D.O.S.A.B. I need say no more.
    7. Sheesh you bought a lot of books compared to me ๐Ÿ˜› I just bought The Book Thief from the charity shop because a. it was ยฃ1.99 and b. I LOVE THAT BOOK.
