Monthly Recap: October

November 1, 2015 by Sana

October brought cold weather which was the best part of the month, really.

LIST OF NEWSWORTHY

It rained for the tenth time this year so I had to document it. // So many stunning illustrations!

Fall Weather
I love that my city cycles through all four seasons and that it’s finally fall even if daily raking leaves stops being fun after a few days.

Learning to Point-Cut
I decided to let my hair grow out which I’ve only done once before but it’s been two years and I hadn’t gotten a haircut. However, as I couldn’t decide on what kind of haircut I wanted, I just went ahead one day and cut them myself (after watching a ton of YouTube videos). It was liberating to say the least.

TV WATCH

I started so many new shows in October, it isn’t even funny. Just- just brace yourselves for the list below, okay.
Korra knows her stuff // The Legend of Korra
Awkward – I can’t stop watching this show so I really hope this is the last season because I’ve had it with all the recycled drama.
Faking It – A for introducing a bi character!
Fresh Off the Boat – Funny as hell.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine – This show is the best ever because it’s hilarious and gives me tons of feelings. Actually considering re-watching from the start because I just can’t get enough of it.
The Flash –  It’s definitely getting better with the inclusion of a multiverse storyline.
Arrow – It’s slowly, very slowly getting better but Oliver Queen is not.
The Vampire Diaries – It takes me ten minutes to watch an episode because it’s that bad. I wait for the day they cancel this show so that I can have a party.
The Big Bang Theory – Actually sad how much the show now relies on sexual jokes and manages to barely stay afloat.
Scream Queens – Still very ridiculous and Chad Radwell is seriously getting on my nerves. I know it’s supposed to make fun of ridiculousness because of all the good ol’ parodies but it just tries too hard.
Heroes Reborn – Out of all the shows I’m watching, Heroes Reborn is at the bottom. Can they speed up the mystery because we’re halfway through the season and it’s dulling.
Empire – HOW DARE THEY DO WHAT THEY DO TO MY FEELS WITH EVERY NEW FUCKING EPISODE.
How to Get Away with Murder – It keeps getting crazier and better with the present day storyline as well as the flashforwards.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – The show has been crazy good and super dark since season three premiered and I approve.
The X-Files – I watched another episode so now I’m two episodes in, ha ha.
Hannibal – I watched the pilot because I’ve been wanting to start for a long time and then I decided to pause because it’s rather slow-paced.
Quantico – Only watched the pilot yet and while it had some good parts, there were a lot of stupidly unrealistic elements that I just can’t get over.
Blindspot – I was intrigued but wasn’t sure if I actually liked the show even after binge-watching the first five episodes. However, episode six revealed something about the tattoos and now I’m excited to continue.
The Royals – It’s so cheesy and mediocre. I’m honestly only watching it for Eleanor because her storyline is the only one worth following. The rest of the cast and their storylines are ridiculous af.
The Legend of Korra – SO FUCKING GOOD. I LOVE KORRA.
Black Sails – The premise is fucking brilliant because pirates. I’m only two episodes in and already think that it’s a very underrated show.

MOVIE WATCH

Sadness wins // Inside Out

Thor: The Dark World (8/10) – Rewatch.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (8/10) – Despite the villain being so witty, I still thought it was darker than usual for a Marvel movie.
Ghostbusters (7/10) – I loved how hilarious and fun it was!
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (5/10) – Let’s just not get into this.
Inside Out (9/10) – SO AMAZING AND STRESSFUL BECAUSE PLOT.
Step Up 2: The Streets (8/10) – Rewatch and it was fun!

LIST OF READS

I wasn’t in the mood for reading much (why I watched so much TV) so I’m surprised at the number of books and comics I read.

Slowly getting back into reading adult fiction.

I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around it only raining 10 times. I think it's rained that many times here in the past week alone!
Let me know if you decide to re-watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine, it's actually on Hulu, yay. (Because I really need a new show to watch, hah.) I hope you're proud of me for finally starting Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Are we even still watching Scream Queens? ๐Ÿ˜€ Next month I hope to see Coupling on your watched list.
BOOKS. The illustrated Harry Potter is gorgeous, I don't think anyone can fault you for buying it. I'm still not over Mockingbird. I have to take it back to the library, otherwise I would probably cave and read it again.
I've listened to one of the songs on your list for the first time EVER. (As in, I actually listened to a song this month.) It was, of course, Hello. I even listened to it multiple times. Progress!

Hello! (from the other side… sorry, I had to :P) :3

I loved Inside Out. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not but I gave it a try… and oh, the feels. I want to watch Hannibal; a lot of people recommended to me. Have you watch the movies? They are awesome.

This month I finished Orange Is The New Black and now I have to wait half a year for season 4. I'm currently watching American Horror Story: Hotel and it's getting better with every new episode ๐Ÿ˜€

Autumn weather is just the absolute best!
I've barely been watching any tv but Scream Queens as been pretty alright imo. I feel like I really need to watch How to Get Away with Murder, I think I'm gonna love it.
I've barely read anything this month – I've been in such a reading slump. But I was blogging every day for blogtober, so that's probably why!
I hope November is awesome for you ๐Ÿ™‚

Quantico and Blindspot are my two new obsessions. Especially Blindspot because TENSION. And ah… The Vampire Diaries. Well, I watched the first episode of the new season but then I just kinda… forgot. Same with Reign. I'll catch up eventually with a marathon or something. It's just not interesting enough to keep me hooked.

And I really need to go book shopping soon because I need new things to read. Luckily Christmas is in less than two months.

NEW ADELE SONG. HOLY. Her voice is so amazing.
The illustrated Harry Potter is SO COOL. A student of mine got it and showed it to me, and WOW. The pictures are beautiful. I still need to see 'Inside Out"!

Whoa, that's a lot of rain for a week, right? The city I live in is extremely dry throughout the year so it's no fun when it barely rains.

I really want re-watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine but I don't think I'll be able to this month because I just can't seem to make time for it. But you should watch it especially if the show is only available on Hulu for a time period. I don't want you to miss out on it and this show is diverse and it handles everything pretty well so it's not offensive at all.

Yes, very proud that you're watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! =D

Haha we're watching Scream Queens. They took a break so that's why it seems like it's been so long ago since we watched it. This week, though.

I will definitely at least watch the pilot of The Coupling, I promise. =D

I actively try not to think about Mockingbird because I'm sure a book hangover will surface.

Whee, I'm glad you liked Hello! I love Adele's voice and her music is top-notch.

I don't think Brooklyn Nine-Nine is expiring, it's not a popular enough show. ๐Ÿ˜› I'm glad to hear that it actually manages to be funny without being offensive, that's so rare.

    Haha I loved that. =D

Right?! I also wasn't really sure but then again, Pixar knows how to up themselves. I haven't watched the Hannibal movies but I've been told that the show degrades in quality over time so I'm not too happy about that. =/

I love Orange is the New Black, wasn't the finale just straight up crazy?! I have never watched AHS and I'm not sure if I want to…
