Sci-Fi Month is Now in Orbit

November 2, 2015 by Sana

This is my third year of taking part in Sci-Fi Month that Rinn has been hosting since 2013 and it’s always fun to be a part of it regardless of how much I suck at sticking to my to-read and to-watch lists.

As in the past, I don’t have super ambitious goals in regards to blogging because of how I am as a person.

Sci-Fi on the Screen

I’m planning to watch more TV shows than movies this month and since I regularly watch Arrow, The Flash and Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D., what’s a couple more.

Jessica Jones – I’m super excited for the upcoming Marvel’s Jessica Jones! It’s a sci-fi crime drama releasing on November 20th on Netflix. Netflix have some really amazing shows so I’m sure this will be great, too.
Daredevil  – I watched the pilot of Marvel’s Daredevil a couple of months ago and I really want to continue watching it this month. There’s also a Daredevil-Jessica Jones crossover in the works so that’s also a motivating factor. However, I don’t know when exactly that’s slated to occur.
Doctor Who – I will be continuing watching it as it’s about time!
The X-Files – I’ve been a spectacular watcher of this show as I’ve only managed to watch two episodes out of 200+ so I’ll give this a try. Again.

I have no idea what sci-fi movies I’ll be watching but I do want to rewatch Inception because I only ever watched it once in a cinema.

Sci-Fi on the Page

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer – I was browsing through my old sci-fi month posts and it’s a little sad that I was planning to read The Lunar Chronicles last year and failed to. It’s alright though, because Winter is finally releasing and I just really want to read that book the most. So yes, I’m definitely going to read the series this month!

Insignia by S.J. Kincaid – Crini recommended it to me a while ago and I only just bought it yesterday since it’s a Kindle deal.

Lock In by John Scalzi – I started this only yesterday and it’s such a classy combination of murder mystery and androids. Really enjoying it!

Planetfall by Emma Newman – I have no idea what’s this book is about except that colonization is involved. When it comes to books, I sometimes love going in blind.

I do have some other sci-fi books in mind but it all depends on my mood reading tendencies.

Sci-Fi on the Blog

I’ve been an unmotivated blogger for most of 2015 but, I do have some ideas that I want to write posts about. To list a few:

– Science fiction in YA which will be an introduction post of sorts.
– A post about books set in space because they’re my favorite.
– Sci-fi titles are some authors working on.
– A flowchart like I did one before for a top ten Tuesday post.

Are you taking part in Sci-Fi Month? Do you like sci-fi? Recommend me something!

I haven't read a sci-fi book for so long now. I'm excited that Winter will be out soon too- I can finally marathon the series.Totally going to watch out for your Sci-fi posts, Sana! Very excited about the books in space one!

This is going to be a fun month. You're going to watch Alien, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I'm going to make watching Pacific Rim a priority this month.
You should read The Fold! Or 14. Preferably both. Or The Flight of the Silvers. (How has Crini not forced you to read that already?) Oh wait, you haven't read The Martian yet, either? (Yes, I did just check on Goodreads.) Both that and FotS are on the library site. *cough* FotS is even available RIGHT NOW *cough* I also liked Time Salvager. It makes me happy that I've read so much more sci-fi this year than in the past few!
Insignia sounds good, plus Crini rec'd it, so I put it on hold at the library, haha.

Inception is my fave movie EVER. I would also recommend Interstellar, another sci-fi film by Christopher Nolan that is just beautiful! And I hope you love The Lunar Chronicles!

I always suck at reading and to watch lists too – more fun to be spontaneous ๐Ÿ˜›

I also watched the pilot of Daredevil not that long ago, and I wasn't as immediately into it as I thought I would be :/ I'm interested to see what you make of the rest of it.

INSIGNIA IS SO GOOD! I just finished the trilogy a month ago. You won't regret it ๐Ÿ˜€

Welcome back to Sci-Fi Month, Sana, glad to have you on board once again!

The Netflix shows are good, I agree. Have you ever watched Continuum? Love that show, it's sci fi and time travel.

I'm really interested in science fiction in YA these days since it seems like most of the good sci fi I've been reading has been YA.

Yes to binging series! I'm just so ready to finally read The Lunar Chronicles. It's about damn time, huh.

Whee, I'm glad you're excited because that's motivating for me haha.

Guess you know the answer to watching Alien. =P

I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO WATCH PACIFIC RIM. CAN YOU TELL?! =D

Oh, I actually ordered the hardcover edition of The Martian (who knows when it'll get here which sad) but I kinda really want to take up on your offer to read either The Fold or The Flight of the Silvers or both ha ha.

I think Crini recommended Time Salvager to me. However, she hasn't really pushed me to read The Flight of the Silvers yet. =P

Yes! I'm so excited to read Insignia. Maybe, if you want, we can read it together?!

Inception is one of my favorite movies, too (my absolute favorite is Pacific Rim, though).

I've heard so many say that Interstellar is strange but now that you say it's good, I'll make it a point to watch it. (Sometimes I just need a push to watch a movie I wouldn't otherwise haha).

    I'm loving The Lunar Chronicles!

Haha that's true! I just want to make it a point to read a lot of sci-fi this month which is already in the works since all I want to read is sci-fi, heh.

Yeah, Daredevil is good but I also wasn't super into it based on only watching the pilot.

Whee, this makes so happy! I'm going in blindly into Insignia and only expecting loads of good things.

Sci-Fi Month is really helping me get back into blogging which is all thanks to you. =D

I'M SO EXCITED TO READ IT and I really want to like (love?) it. =D

  12. Sana says

    November 9, 2015

I haven't! I love time travel so I'll definitely at least watch the pilot. Thanks for the recommendation.

I haven't read a lot of adult sci-fi but there is definitely some really good YA sci-fi out there!

  13. Maraia says

    November 10, 2015

No, get a little more excited. ๐Ÿ˜›

I can't imagine that you won't love The Martian. I don't think The Fold is on the e-library, but Flight of the Silvers definitely is.

Yeah! I already have it on my Kindle, now all we need is some time. ๐Ÿ˜€
